Other Blog Posts

Thought I'd put together a little blog roundup on The Uno.  Before I do that thought, it occurred to me that what we're looking at here is essentially half of a motorcycle.  Another way to think of it is it is a Segway with a seat. Ok, enough with that.

Here's a makezine blog post

Treehugger included this quote from Gulak:  "It has a range of about 2.5hrs and it is designed for the commute to work through busy town. I believe this could be an electrical alternative to the car. I'm just looking for an investor to help me get it into production."

The UK's daily mail thinks "it might help save the planet." :-)

Geekologie says The Uno's gyroscopic technology is augmented by "a powerful sorcerer. " Might bookmark that blog.

Wired Magazine Article

I woke up this morning at 0600 EST and looked at wired.com on my blackberry 8830. I came across an article on a new motorized unicycle-like vehicle....very cool with a cool picture and story.   But then I got on my PC and couldnt find the article...even tried search on wired.com but couldnt find it.

Went back to my blackberry's history and got the URL.  Long story short, here is the article.

Motorcycle Mojo Magazine Article

As of May 3, 2008, this appears to be the most in depth online article I can find about The Uno.  Kudos to Glenn Roberts for a well written article with a good story angle.  And thanks for all the pictures.

Here's an excerpt from the article regarding the operation of The Uno:

Operation of the 54.4 kg (120lb) machine is simple, in fact it's so simple there are no controls except for an on-off switch. To go forward, you simply push your body weight forward to tilt the machine. To back up, just lean back on teh seat to tilt it backwards and back it goes. The farther you lean, the faster it accelerates. The gyro tells the ECU how much to accelerate and that in turn delivers the proper amount of current to the electric motors, one for each wheel.

Couple More Official Pics

Here's another shot from Ben's website. This electric motorcycle might look like a unicycle but it actually has two wheels and is balanced by a gryoscope.    Image found here:
